Connect a CalDAV server
Use this connector for calendars on any CalDAV server other than iCloud — Fastmail, Infomaniak, Nextcloud, mailbox.org, or a server you run yourself. For iCloud, use Apple Calendar instead.
You need three things: the server's address, your username, and a password. Where your provider offers app passwords, use one: it can be revoked without changing your main password, and some providers, including Fastmail, require it.
Find your server address
| Provider | Server address | Username |
|---|---|---|
| Fastmail | caldav.fastmail.com | Your Fastmail email address |
| Infomaniak | sync.infomaniak.com | Your short Infomaniak ID, such as AB12345 |
| Nextcloud | your-server.example.com/remote.php/dav | Your Nextcloud username |
| Other | The CalDAV address in your provider's sync settings | Usually your email address |
Infomaniak: to find your short ID, open config.infomaniak.com, pick a device such as Linux, choose Calendars, and open the manual synchronization tab. It shows your username and lets you create an application password, which Infomaniak requires once two-factor authentication is on.
You can paste the bare host, the /.well-known/caldav address, or the full CalDAV URL — CalendarPipe finds your calendars from any of them.
The server must be reachable over https at a public address. CalendarPipe refuses plain http:// so your password is never sent unencrypted, and it never connects to private or local network addresses.
Connect in CalendarPipe
- Navigate to Calendar Connections in the CalendarPipe sidebar
- Start a new connection and select CalDAV server
- Enter the server address, your username and your password or app password
- Click Connect
CalendarPipe signs in and lists your calendars before saving anything, so a wrong address or password is reported straight away. Once connected, the account's calendars are available to your pipes as both sources and targets.
Limitations
| Limitation | Details |
|---|---|
| https only | Servers reachable only over plain http, or only on a private network, cannot be connected |
| Recurring events | Synced as individual occurrences out to the sync window, like any source |
Revoke access
Delete the app password in your provider's settings, or change the password you connected with. CalendarPipe loses access on the next sync attempt. Disconnecting the account in Calendar Connections deletes the stored password.
Troubleshooting
- "The server rejected that username or password" -- Check the username your provider uses for CalDAV (see the table above), and use an app password if your provider has them.
- "Signed in, but the server found no calendars for that username" -- The server accepted your login under a name your calendars aren't stored under. Infomaniak does this with your email address: use your short ID instead (see above).
- "That address didn't answer like a CalDAV server" -- The address points somewhere that isn't the CalDAV endpoint. Use the address from your provider's CalDAV or sync settings; for Nextcloud, include
/remote.php/dav. - "This account has no calendars with events" -- The address may lead to contacts (CardDAV) rather than calendars, or the account has no calendars yet.
- "CalendarPipe can't connect to that address" -- The server resolves to a private or local network address. Use an address reachable from the public internet.
